I just got my rods today. Then I am doing this oiling cork work as usual. The reason I'm doing this work, the cork may got finger-marked. I have applied perilla oil onto my rods. Before , After, It should repeat several times to make great color. One week will be reasonable. hahaha.

I don't know if US market sale perilla oil but I can get it for you from near korean market if anyone want to try. It just gets wet. there is nothing happen on the rods. There are several steps need to do in order for getting this color.
(Apply oil, wipe with towel, dry ) x 10 will make better than that haha

What happens to your grip when they become wet? Do they get slippery or is the cork still the same texture?

Interesting. Can you bring one of your rods to the next meeting so that we can all check it out?

ive heard of something similar to this. You just apply a special oil to it to protect it, prevent it from getting dirty, and I they make it stay soft if im not mistaken? you know how after a long time of dirt and use the cork gets rock solid

To dry the oil perfectly, it may take long time because it depends on where do you put the rods to dry. you can just simply know that it is coating your rods by oil. Of course, it will not get silppery 100% when it get wet. Some of my friends said they are doing this work for fishing in rain.
I'm sure to bring my rods but i don't think that won't be dried until next meeting.

One more good thing is here, when you use the rods in rain, the cork will not absorve water.
