This is a post to let you all know about a fishing clinic we have scheduled with with the Champaign Urbana Park District Special Recreation. It will this Friday, Oct. 5th from 4-6 at Crystal Lake.
I mentioned this event at both of our first general meetings this semester. It is an event geared towards teaching teenagers and adults with special needs how to fish. We basically help teach them how to cast, how to bait a hook, and hopefully how to catch some bluegill.
We could use a few more people (about 5-6) who feel they have a lot of experience fishing and could patiently teach others how to fish. It is a great way to give back to the community and gain some community service hours as well! If you are interested and are available please post on here and let us know! Thanks!
Also, If anybody has some push button combos like some old zebcos that maybe you used as a kid and you would be willing to bring them for the participants it would be greatly appreciated. We need about another 5 rods and reels.

I would be willing help out on Friday if you're still looking for more people. I'm not near as experienced as some of the members in the club, but have been fishing quite a bit the past few summers. I haven't been able to make any of the paper tournaments but really want to get more involved with the club so let me know if you could use my help.

We should plan to meet at 4 if we have to set the poles up and stuff. Last time a few people were early so we want to be ready for that.

We need as much help as we can get right now. Brock and I will most likely be driving. Please text or call us for rides. We usually go out to dinner as a group following the event.

I, Carlos Arteaga, will be able to help out for about an hour this Friday. I have work at five so I'll only be able to stay until then. I'll also be able to bring an extra spincast rod and reel. Would bait be provided? If not I don't mind buying some nightcrawlers.

Thanks Carlos, but we will not be holding the event this Friday.
We were not going to have enough members out for the event so we made the decision to cancel. Unfortunately, this Friday was the only day that would work for the CUSR so we will be holding off on the event until the spring. Thank you to all who planned on volunteering. Stay tuned for updates about next semester's event.
