I have been contacting some people and I have used a version of this email.

My name is Thomas Platt and I am a member of the Illini Bass Fishing club, the official bass fishing team of the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign. The reason I am contacting you is because Purdue University and the University of Illinois will be hosting the 12th annual Big Ten Classic on Kentucky Lake out of Ken Lake Marina. The Big Ten Classic is the oldest annual tournament in college fishing and anglers from eleven Big Ten schools from across the Midwest will be competing. Minnesota, Michigan, Michigan State, Indiana, Purdue, Ohio State, Illinois, Iowa, Wisconsin, Nebraska, and Penn State all will be in attendance ready to tackle Kentucky Lake!
The tournament will be held on Sunday, October 27th; with the official practice day being Saturday, October 26th. In the past this was always a 'boater' tournament, meaning the collegiate anglers were able to compete without having a boat of their own. Throughout the years less boaters have stepped up putting more pressure on teams to bring their own boats. This may not be an issue for some teams but many do not take the trip because they have an underpowered boat to combat a lake like Kentucky Lake that can become dangerous to navigate in inclement weather.
With that being said, there are still many anglers that are in need of a boater for Saturday and Sunday coming this October 26th and 27th. If you could help spread the word about our need for boaters it would be a great help for this tournament. Even providing a few local contacts that I could personally contact would be a huge help. Feel free to contact me by email or phone call at (.
