I took a break for 2 hours from dissertation writing to check out the bassin at Crystal Lake. The air temp was low 40s and it was windy. Our new member, Ben, was out also. In those 2 hours I caught 8 bass, with 4 being fish over 2 lbs, and one of those was this one, a borderline 3 lb fish....The picture does no justice to the fatness of this gorging fall bass.

Ben caught 4 by fishing a medium diving fat free fry in yellow craw pattern...I think he was fishing laydowns on the opposite side of shore from where he was.
I caught my fish on a 3/16 oz bitsy bug jig in green pumpkin with a creaturebait trailer. That bait catches fish for me everywhere. It's on my top 5 list, though if I had only 1 weight I might pick the 1/4 or 3/8 oz since they fish better in deeper water.
I was targeting brush in 3-6 feet of water that was not visible from above the waterline. Most fish hit on hops or on long pauses...one smacked it HARD after I shook the bait in place for like 30 secs. Good luck. -D
