I'm updating this with more info from the BFLs.
Ok, well we departed form Champaign at around 10:00am and headed north towards MY house. we stopped at bass pro in which i proceeded to spend 88$. oh and we met up with Doug there too. Then Bor and I had a nice Korean style lunch at my house (THANKS MOMMY!!!! <3) and then we fished the pond behind my house. As i went in to the back of Bors mini suv a terrible realization came over me. I couldn't find my reel bag.
It turned out that i forgot it at my apartment. (a horrible nightmare that became reality). Luckly i had a few reels at home and Bor had enough to spot me a few reels.
In my pond Bor got a good 3lber on a tube. and i threw a Strike King, KING SHAD "sexy color" with that swim bait i landed a 4lber and a 2.5lber.
After fishing my pond for like 20mins we departed from my home and headed north west towards La Crosse WI.
We got to the walmart, where Bor bought his WI license and i got me a nice pair of polarized lenses.
After the meeting Bor and i just tied up for the next day in the Walmart parking lot (cuz we didn't get a hotel)
We slept at the ramp in Bor's mini suv. It was quite the night cuz:
A). my chair could not recline
B). BOR SNORES, REALLY LOUD!!!!!!!!!!!
The next morning we headed out at around 430 and met our boaters at the ramp.
The weather was cold, wet, and worst of all WINDY. Running from spot to spot was a test a of indurance, strength, and a trial for your acceptance to PAIN.
Eventually the weather cleared up and it was sunny.
In the end the sacks that were brought in were quite large.
It took about 20lbs on the boater side and 17lbs on the co-angler side. Bor brought in 4 fish for a final weight of 9 - 04, one of which was a big ole Smallie
My boater had a spot that was loaded with fish but he kept losing them at the side of the boat. he managed to boat one smallie at ~ 2 - 04. He was using a tube the whole time, and i was using a black shakey head. (prolly why he got more bites than me) but i managed to land one largemouth at 3 - 01
Doug came in with one fish at 2 - 06.
so this was the standings
Bor Wossur - 30th
Leo Kim - 77th
Doug Macchia - 87th
After weighin we proceeded to Edwardo's for some cheese curds and pizza. YUMMY!!!
After the BFLs up in La Crosse Me, Bor, and Doug made a little excursion over to Delavan. Praying that the Bass fishing Gods would bestow on to me a smallie and Doug FISH ON BEDS!!!
Unfortunately neither of our wishes were granted, but we still managed to whack the nuts out of em on wacky rigged senkos, finesse worms, and trick worms.
We couldn't bed fish bass, but Bor managed to sight fish this guy with a 6 inch basstrix paddle tail swim bait (a waste of a perfectly good swim bait)
He looks kinda happy to be holding a musky
We pulled further in from the mouth of the channel into the channel where we started whackiing the nuts out of countless bass. (mostly under 12inches) but we did see a couple of real good sized fish cruising around. While moving down a channel I spotted something long and brown moving along the riprap. It was a ferret looking like critter. a weasel? a minx? something along those lines. but it was REALLY COOL!!!! X3
We also chatted with some of the locals while fished down the channel as well.
i won the prize for the smallest bass caught
On a green pumpkin senko
I also won the prize for the Biggest bass caught ~4lbs 8oz
also on a green pumpkin senko (sry but no picture)
In the middle of the day Doug had to leave for a Hockey game and left his ranger in Bor's charge. (we had a bit of fun with that ;D)
While Doug was away we pulled up in to the mouth of a channel and fished the docks near the opening. Bor immediately caught a couple good fish and saw a couple REALLY good ones. when we pulled up to this one dock we could see 2 or 3 5lbers just sitting under it. unfortunately both of us BOTCHED the chance by getting snagged on the dock. (that happen ALOT through out the day)
There were ALOT more fish caught
I caught one and missed a 5lber on a swim jig (no thanks to Bor)
I also had one hit a walker too.
Then Bor lost countless fish and a couple that would have been good fish.
And Doug lost quite a few as well.
I would have taken more pics but my phone had low batteries and i kinda left my camera at school, so yea...
