Hey guys,
We had our March general meeting last night which included the drawing for our Spring Fever raffle! Through the raffle we were able to raise approximately $1400 so thank you for everyone who sold tickets and everyone who supported us.
Sponsors:
I am putting in an Advantage Bait Company order by the end of this week so if anyone is interested in picking up some spinnerbaits let me know, I will put the order in and bring them back to campus with me so no one has to pay shipping, cost is $10 per bait.
Tacklewarehouse: James Liu is putting in a TW order in the near future if anyone wants to jump in and get a couple things and doesn't want to pay shipping.
Columbia: We have a contract in hand for this year and we are still working with them to get the Big 10 gear, any questions on Columbia post on the board or contact Matt Sells.
Ranger: We are still waiting on an estimate from Ranger for boat repairs, more information will be posted when we know it.
New Sponsorship with Quantum: In the last few weeks I have finalized the deal with Quantum so anybody who is interested in Quantum gear let me know. We can make 8 orders a year for 40-50% off so we are going to combine orders as much as possible to maximize our benefits and save on shipping costs. Anyone interested post on the board or contact me directly.
High School tournaments
We have been working wiht Oak Lawn High School and they are planning a trip Salmon fishing from the shores of Lake Michigan next week over ours and their spring break, if anyone is interested in doing this post on the board and we will give you the information.
There is an invitational High School tournament out on Clinton Lake on April 9th that we are working with. They would really like some help with the weight in and running other aspects of the tournament and a couple of us with boats are talking about being boaters for some schools so try to keep the weekend open, it's only Saturday and it is something we should really try to help with if possible, we are also brainstorming ways to fund-raise for our club at the same time.
We are also going to try to get out to IHSA sectionals and state tournaments, we will work on this more as we get closer, so keep an eye out for that.
Fundraising Tournament:
Our Fundraising Tournament is May 15th On Lake Shelbyville going out of the Dam West/9th Street Recreation Area! We need everybody to get the word out as much as possible, everyones going home for spring break, you should go to your local bait shop and put up a flyer, post on any online forums you use for Illinois, spread the word to friends and family we want to have a full field this year. Entry fee is $50 and a $5 big bass and registration will be open on our website. We are working on getting support from the Illinois Bass Federation or the Illini Team Trail to assist us with the weigh in to make sure everything goes smoothly. I have flyers for this, if anybody needs them email me, kaszuba1@illinois.edu and I will hook you up!
Jerseys
The Jerseys are in production and should be to us in about 4 weeks, so anybody who ordered keep that in mind and you will know when they come in.
Other Tournaments
Cody and Marshall fished the Murrary state Invitational on Kentucky Lake at the end of Feburary and placed in the top 25.
Matt and Cody fished the FLW on Lake of the Ozarks this past weekend and had a rough time, the conditions changed drastically the day of the tournament which made it a tough fishing day.
Illinois College State Tourney:
This will be either April 16th or 17th out on Lake Jackonsville. We are trying to get as many boats out there as possible, I am taking my boat out there with Carlos, Cody and Marshall are going out there and we might be getting the Ranger and the Quachita out there with a co angler spot open so pay attention to the board for that information.
Social events:
The Bar Crawl has been pushed until after break, t-shirt production did not go as fast as we hoped, so we will post the date of it when we set it.
We are having a social event this Thursday, starting out at Joe's and maybe going somewhere after. We are helping out the Rugby Team who are selling $5 wristbands that take the place of cover and get us specials all night so anybody who is interested in joining us post in the thread on the general board and we will hook you up.
On a sad note, for those who didn't know, Kyle and Matt's boater for the last 2 years out at St Clair David Wagensomer passed away last week. We sent a letter with a blown up picture of us at the end of the tournament with our condolences. There is talk of creating a memorial tournament for him either this summer or fall and a few of us would probably go fish that so we will post more information about that when we know more.
Thats all for this month everybody, our special guest Stephen Lutz was not able to make it to this meeting but is planning on coming to our April meeting so be sure to come out and here him speak!
