Hey guys,
We had our November General meeting tonight, heres what you missed.
T shirts
Brock and Jake are working on some new t shirt designs for our club, one for fundraising and one for members. Pay attention to the board for design postings and updates on that.
Winter Events
We have been talking about things we could do in the winter to promote our sponsors and other events in general to just get out to.
We are working on getting a presentation day together at Bass Pro Shops, where we would demonstrate techniques in the fish tank and have a table set up.
We are also talking about getting involved with outdoors shows, such as the Tinley Park Fishing Show and the Fish and Feathers show in Bloomington, either getting a table and having a raffle or just going to the shows as an event.
Columbia Big 10
Matt has an email into our representative but she has not responded so far, we do not know when the gear will be in so when there is an update it will be posted.
Jerseys
For those of you who ordered Jerseys they are in production and Kyle should have them in the next couple of weeks.
Upcoming Social Events
For our executive board meeting next week we will be having a team dinner at Texas Roadhouse in Champaign at a discount because of our size, the date is tentatively scheduled for next Tuesday but that will be posted on the board when it is confirmed.
The Tuesday after Thanksgiving Break we will be going out to Kams for Country Night, maybe a mini bar crawl that ends up at Kams. More information will be posted when plans are set so check back for more info.
We will also be having a reel cleaning day after Thanksgiving break and when we have a date for that it will be posted.
In the near future we will also be having a technique practice day so keep an eye out for that too.
Fundraising Tournaments
It was decided tonight that we will be hosting two fundraising tournaments in the spring, one that will be for high school kids only and we will be having our third annual fundraising tournament after that.
High School Tournament: The plan is to have the tournament open to all high schools statewide, with the number of teams a school can bring dependent on how many teams sign up. There will be an entry fee to cover the costs of the tournament and raise some money for the club. We are going to provide lunches and prize packages for the teams competing, as well as giving these students another tournament opportunity and having a great time in the process! This tournament will be out on Lake Shelbyville on Sunday April 8th.
Fundraising Tournament: This tournament will follow the same basic format as the last two years. It will be open to anyone who wants to fish it, with some money going to the top finishers and some money going back to the club. We are going to go with consistency so we are looking at Sunday May 13th out on Lake Shelbyville.
With both of these tournaments we will need a lot of help if we want to pull this off, so we are really counting on a lot of support from everyone. We have assigned someone to oversee each aspect of the tournament so if there is something your willing to help with please let that person know.
