You guys better not lose at Shelbyville! And you better get a hold of me about Lacrosse! Should be a good frog bite going that time of year and you can never go wrong with spinnerbaits and TX rigs on the Mississippi River. It'll take close to 15lbs to win it.

I would like to fish the FLW's. But question, can I fish in the FLW? I think it has to be top 10 in club to fish for tournament..

you are eligible to fish in the tournaments but first priority goes to top 10 members and those ahead of you in points. I'm not saying it couldn't happen but it is unlikely given the fact your new to the club and low down on the totem pole
We should be able to get you into a tournament though at some point especially considering you have a boat!

Thanks to Cody, Brock and Luke for helping out this morning and dealing with all the frustration and confusion. I am happy to announce that we are officially registered for all four 2012 FLW Qualifying Tournaments. Decisions on who will be fishing each tournament will be made next semester.

Kyle I'm keeping my eye on you closer than the rest, maybe Luke and Conrad too but your in the best position to be a tournament hog

Justin if by that you mean Conrad and myself are in the best positions to catch a HOG in the tournament I would have to agree. But you don't have to worry about me hogging anything, I just want a few wins for the IBFC.

Haha trust me I won't be a hog! I got graduation for one of the tournaments (may 12th) and may fish with Cody on March 3rd but haven't decided yet since I have never fished Table Rock....and I agree with Luke we need to do somewhat well this year we have fallen short too many times and I think we have some great fisherman on the team who can step up to the challenge!

hey i am trying to get local colleges in illinois to participate in our own illinois tournaments. By this i mean getting other colleges in illinois together and discussing the top two lakes that you would want to fish. We would make a schdule by picking the top two lakes from each college in illinois and randomonly assigning them to each month. I would like to make bass fishing a year round activity for colleges. This is a big step for Illinois but i think it will work out. I have to talk to other schools to see if they are interested in this suggestion. If you have better idea's or suggestion post on this message. 630-878-1948 is my cell

Hey Dan, thanks for posting. We are currently working with Northern Illinois University, Southern Illinois University and Illinois State University to organize a tournament trail for Illinois colleges this coming year. We are planning for 3 qualifying tournaments and a Classic at the end of the year. We have secured the support of the Association of College Anglers and the BoatUS Collegiate Bass Fishing Tour; they will be helping us with publicity as well as prizes for each tournament.
It sounds like we are trying to accomplish the same thing so I think it would be a very good idea for us to work together to give us an even greater possibility of success.

Considering myself the vice president of our bass fishing club for Eastern Illinois University. I like your suggestion about working together. I would like to bring up possibly if the other colleges would allow to have more than one boat fishing for each tournament. Also you said for the sponsorship you said "Association of College Anglers and the BoatUS Collegiate Bass Fishing Tour; they will be helping us with publicity as well as prizes for each tournament". If there was some way we could discuss how to encourage more sponorships to leeway our college tournaments for instance, bass pro shop, skeeter boats or just local companies in that location of the tournament. Have you been collaborating with the other colleges in illinois about how we are going to make a schdule with lakes from each college. I would suggest that if we picked 2 lakes from each college in illinois and randomonly assign to a calandar. Would they allow powerplant lakes such as lake newton. also would they allow to fish lakes in boarding states such as wisconsin or just stricly illinois. I know 2012 isnt that far away and i would like to keep progressing till forsure we have a schdule of lakes across illinois or surrounding states.

We have just started working on the plans but I can answer at least a few of your questions.
At this point we are thinking 2 or 3 boats per school and inviting schools from all over the Midwest to participate.
The ACA and BoatUS will not be the only sponsors of the tournaments, we simply got them involved because they run a national tournament circuit for college fishing and have the experience and resources needed to organize a series of events like we are planning. Each of the organizing schools is being encouraged to work with their own sponsors to secure prizes for participating anglers.
The current plan for the schedule is as follows: we will organize 3 qualifying tournaments and a classic (championship) tournament. Our current plan is for a southern, central and northern tournament to make up the qualifiers. Northern Illinois will be hosting the northern, we will be hosting the central and I believe Southern has agreed to host the southern tournament. Each school will be coming up with a list of possible dates for their tournament and from there we will work out a schedule. We are going to start the year just in Illinois but if we get enough interest from other states we can think about expanding in the coming years.
We realize 2012 is coming quickly and hope to have a schedule planned out before the 1st of the year.
