Well, thanks for all of your well wishes! The tournament was very well run and organized and I think everyone had a great time over the weekend. They provided food and lodging the whole weekend, making for a very comfortable and enjoyable atmosphere.
On to the fishing....
First place went to a team from ATU that had 16 pounds and change flipping around grass in the morning and then fishing rip rap in the afternoon.
Second place went to a team from Purdue that had in the low 13 pound range... They were fishing frogs...
And Michael and I came in 3rd with only 4 fish that went 12.7 pounds and we had big bass at 4.61 pounds. We fished around "Braidwood reeds" in the morning pitching sweet beavers to catch two keepers and then moved to this awesome bridge area where the current would run in and out along one side and the fish were just stacked up. We caught about 6 fish right off the bat, but no keepers. Then after a short rest, we went back and had the big fish just slam our crankbait. We were pumped after getting that fish in the net! Then we cruised around and went back a few hours later and had another nice female full of eggs hit the crankbait...about a 3.5 pounder. We just couldn't finish out our limit to pull of the upset! But we did our best to represent the club!
Steve and Vandy unfortunately were unable to weigh a keeper although they reported catching shorts like crazy. The keeper bite was tough and we even caught a ton of shorts along with those four keepers.
The highlight of the weekend was performing Drop Shot Like It's Hot for the Smashmouth camera guy...I think they are talking about signing Steve to a record deal...
REMEMBER...NO EXEC MEETING TONIGHT!!
