Hey everyone! I hope you're all having a good time on summer break. Here's the news the ranger needs a new starter! I will be contributing some money, however we will need a bit more than I or Rob can offord. So if anyone in the club would like to pitch in a little money call me up.

This is one of those things we all knew would happen sooner or later....

Yeah, its a given that something like this would happen with such an old motor. However it can be fixed! And it will be a lot less than trying to buy a newer boat!

we used to have a crown line boat with a 350 V8. we had the starter rebuilt and the only thing they save is the case for it all. new motor, gears, and everything. 35 bucks here in good ol' decatur IL. the place is called D-R Rebuilders so that is a possibility also. it will save the club some major money and ours worked every weekend it was warm enough for nearly 5 years. we sold it this summer to make way for dad's new boat and the starter still worked like new. its an idea guys look into having it rebuilt

yeah, but was that starter 25 years old? If they can rebuild a 25 year old starter to run like new, then it could be an option

Well, if you can buy a starter for a 25 year old boat, you could definitely rebuild one that old then. Shoot, it may be the same starter they continue to use today in other applications. I would definitely look into buying either a rebuilt or remanufactured starter, assuming thats not what yall have already priced....

chris is right. this place rebuilt ours for an 89 crown line with a 454. it worked for 8 years that we had it and works for whoever owns it today. they even cracked the casing on it when we took another car starter back initially due to a slight wiring problem and they gave us a brand new one. they stand behind their work. this place is on decatur street in downtown decatur and it is a red building. it is called D&R Rebuilders. i believe the number is 217-422-6012 call them up and find out if it is an option. good luck fishin guys. let me know if anyone wants to come for a saturday to see some of my secret spots on the famous sangchris. be prepared to be blindfolded though haha.

So is the Ranger still out of comission? Was a decision made or are we waiting until school starts or something?
