Hey everybody!
I checked you guys out on Quad Day and I absolutely want to get involved! I am a sophomore and I had no idea that there was an Illini Bass Fishing Club/Team! I go fishing with my dad all the time in Michigan. I am especially interested in doing a tournament! I was perusing your site and found the Big 10 Tournament! That is so awesome... is there anyway I can be involved in this? I'm Kim, by the way. My email is kscarab2@uiuc.edu incase you want to message me!
ciao -K

Hi Kim, We have a point system in the club inwhich you earn points based on attending meetings, fishing Paper tournaments (fishing tournaments between other members of the club which will be announced/organized using the message board), and a few other events. So the top ten club members based on points (from the homepage you can access the point tables) at the end of the year are sent to the Big 10 Tournament in the fall of the following year. Make sense? So keep checking the message board to get involved in Paper Tournaments, Club events/outings (social chairs nudge nudge), and General meeting dates. If you have any more questions feel free to reply to this post, e-mail the president, Rob, or myself, Kerry. All of the executive members e-mails can be accessed from the main page. Hope to hear from you in the future!

Kim,
Welcome, hope to see you at the meeting 9/5!
To answer your question re: tournaments, we frequently do what's called a "paper tournament" wherein participants fish a local lake for a set period of time, measure any bass they catch, and total them at the end of the alotted time (it's an honors system). Depending on the number of participants, and what place you finish, you are awarded a certain number of points (you also get points just for participating even if you don't catch anything). Over the year the points accumulate, at the end we tally them up and based on the number of points you have, you can qualify for to fish in the Big 10 (top 10) or the ESPN tourney (top 2). Let me also mention that we have a few events each year where we take our club boats out, or club members bring their boats along, where we visit some of the larger lakes in the area.
Beginners and "experts" can learn something from everyone in the club.
Rob, did I miss anything?
