Today was practice day 1 for the College Smash-Mouth Championship. Michael and I started scouting at 7:00 am but we werent allowed to start fishing until after the pros left the Pine Bluff Pool (2 pool below where the Major was launching out of) around 12:00. Not too long after our scouting began, a great big Nitro came racing around the corner of a large island and appeared to be coming right at us! It was KVD and he was fishing a creek that Michael and I were headed to... of couse, we pulled up short and watched for a short time before heading off to do some scouting of our own. We got off the water aroudn 8:15 when darkness fell and just got settled down now. The day was long and hot and we managed some fish but all smaller. I think we have a chance to catch a few keepers, but tomorrow will be a critical practice day as we only have four hours to locate some better fish. I just hope we can represent U of I well!
We'll report back soon after tomorrow's exciting day where we will visit the Bassmaster Major Weigh-In.
