The Bass University will be in Schaumburg, IL on January 26th and 27th, 2013 and our club has been invited to help out with the event and also to attend. We have been asked to help with set up, speaker transportation and anything else the speakers may need help with. In return, we have been offered half price admission to the event; $43.75 for one day or $87.50 for both days.
Those who do not know what the Bass University is, it is essentially like going to class to learn about bass fishing. They have professionals come in from all areas of our sport and give presentations on techniques and strategies.
I need to get a head count of those who are planning to attend this event so that I can let the organizers know how many spots to reserve. Keep in mind that you don't need to attend the event, you can come to just volunteer your time before and after the event.
I live only about 5 minutes from the event and I know that a few other guys are very close as well so everyone will have a place to stay for the weekend if needed.
Please post up by next Wednesday if you are planning to go and whether or not you will be buying tickets.

I am available the whole weekend and I will be buying tickets for this.
I live about 20 minutes from the event and will be able to help people out if they need a place to stay, and will also be able to give some people rides from champaign to the suburbs for those who live in the area without a way back for the trip.

One response? This is nowhere near what it was at the General Meeting. You guys have until Wednesday to tell me if you're going or not.

Me and Tom were just talking about this and we just realized that in addition to the Bass University being there the convention center is also holding a outdoors show this year. Looking down the list of exhibitors Advantage, Lews, Dobyns, Bedford and Lees Bait and Tackle will have booths at the show. If some of you guys are on the fence about going both days or going at all this might be something to consider too. If i remember correctly we still need people to just set up and help regardless of whether they go to the show, so if a couple of you guys didn't want to go to the show but still wanted to hit an outdoors show and do some face time with some of our supporters it might not be a bad thing.

Justin brings up a very good that I keep forgetting to mention, the Chicagoland Fishing Show will be running at the same time as the Bass University event and in the same hotel. I did not realize that there would be that many of our sponsors there though. This turns the great opportunity we have with Bass U into an incredible one. Since we are sticking with Advantage, it would be really great if we could have someone out at their booth. In addition, Lews and Dobyns are two very important sponsors that it would be great to give some face time to. Lee's Bait and Tackle is from my hometown and the owner is a really great guy. He has a lot of very unique tackle and is always up to helping our team out in any way that he can. If we end up keeping the Ranger, Bedford may be very important to helping us keeping the thing running.
As of right now, Bass U does not need any additional people to help set up besides those that are already planning attending. However, those of you that were thinking of just coming along or coming for only one day now have something even more important to occupy your time with. The show isn't one of the biggest but it would definitely be great exposure and generally, if you wear your jersey, most times people will start giving you free stuff.
I really encourage everyone who has time that weekend but doesn't necessarily want to attend the Bass U to come out for the show.
