On Wednesday October 18 at 5 pm in W115 Turner Hall, the U of I student sub-chapter of the American Fisheries Society will hold our next monthly meeting. We are going to have Mike Mounce, a fisheries biologist with the Illinois DNR come and talk about pond management and what he does for his job. Then on Saturday October 21 we will do our annual pond survey at Kauffman Lake in Champaign (on Springfield about a mile east of I-57). This event will last approximetly from 9-12. We will collect fish from the lake with electrofishing and beach seining then record data from them. We will also collect some invertebrate samples. This is a good opportunity to learn about fisheries work and to see how to properly identify and handle fish, not to mention see what kind of fish are actually in the lake. I hope that everyone will be able to come out. If you have any questions, feel free to e-mail me (mjweber2@uiuc.edu) or Randy Oplinger (ropling2@uiuc.edu).

I can't believe your avatar has you holding a musky! What happened to being a member of the bass club? You were doing so well there after learning how to shake off bass...and now this! Oh, Michael...whatever is there to be done?

Nice, Steve, real nice.
Wasn't there another one? Or would PETA hunt us down for that one?
