Hey Guys,
No, this is not a thread to get you guys riled up about people going out to shoot bass with bows and arrows.
It is actually about seeing if any of you guys need a break from bass fishing for a day and want to come get in a bowfishing tournament.
The body of water it is held on is loaded with nice carp and it was a big success last year.

2006 Hennepin Canal Carp Shoot
A benefit bowfishing tournament for
Illinois Sportsmen Against Hunger
May 13
8:00am-3:00pm
Entry Fee- $40 per 2 man team
Tournament kickoff/weigh-in at Lock 24
(North of Geneseo 1.5 miles on Grange road)
Pre-registration REQUIRED.
Entry limited to the first 16 Teams!
The pot will be split 50/50 between Competitors and
Illinois Sportsmen Against Hunger
Payback to Competitors as follows:
1st Place = 50%
2nd Place = 30%
3rd Place = 20%
The winning team will be declared as such which brings the largest number of Carp, Buffalo, or Gar Species in any combination to the weigh-in area by the designated time through bowfishing in the Hennepin Canal without the use of a watercraft.

Tournament Rules
1. It is the responsibility of the tournament participants to know and obey state and local, fish and game laws.
2. Fish entered in the team total must be taken with a bow be it a, compound, recurve or long bow using a single point arrow only.
3. No watercraft will be allowed for use by competitors during the tournament.
4. Teams should check in by 7:30 am to get final instructions on the day of the tournament.
5. No bait or chumming of fish.
6. All fish must be kept clear of the bike path and clearly within possession of the team through attachment to a stringer or similar device after being brought ashore.
7. A penalty of one fish per minute will be assessed to any team returning late for up to 15 minutes. Any team checking in with the tournament director 15 minutes after time expires will be disqualified.
8. Only carp, gar and buffalo species are eligible for the team’s total.
9. Suspected transferring of fish between teams will result in disqualification of all teams involved. All decisions are made by the tournament director.
10. Fish disposal will be the responsibility of the tournament director.
11. No unsportsmanlike or unsafe conduct will be tolerated. This includes shooting and drawing towards each other on opposing sides of the canal d**e.
12. The decisions of the tournament director will be FINAL.
13. All protests must be written and turned into the tournament director within 15 minutes of closing of the tournament.
14. Failure to comply with tournament rules will result in disqualification and entry fee WILL NOT BE REFUNDED.
15. This list is subject to additions should the tournament director deem necessary.
All participants must check out upon leaving the tournament. The tournament hosts, sponsors and directors are not responsible for accidents or lost property. Fees or any portion of fees refunded will be the decision of tournament director and will be based on reason of cancellation.
Big Fish Pot: $5.00 per person – Everyone on the team must be registered for the big fish pot in order for any one member to win. 100% payback will go to the winning shooter. Determination will be based on weight.

Upon receipt, you will be notified and sent further information regarding the tournament. The tournament will be limited to the first 16 teams to get their money to Grant Wyffels the tournament director. If you send in your money after the allotted spots have been filled, you will be refunded in full. Send applications no later than May 6. Phone call requests may be made thereafter.
