Guys,
A quick look at the math surrounding our upcoming Mill Creek tournament suggests that having it may not be the wisest decision. Think about these items before you call me crazy:
1) The way ESPN scores catching no fish in a qualifier tournament means that the scores currently are: Rob 100, Mike 99, DintySteveVandy 94--we're each 5 points under Mike...
2) Mill Creek has an interesting take on slot limits...their slot is 12-15 inches, but you're allowed to keep any fish under 12 inches.
3) Mill Creek actually has bass in it.
Think carefully about these 3 facts and the evidence becomes staggering : By winning the tournament at Mill Creek and "avenging" defeat at Braidwood, DintySteveVandy would accumulate a total of 194 points for the 2 tournaments... However, if Rob caught no fish in the Mill Creek tournament, the worst he could do is a 2-way tie for second place, and Mike could still be in danger IF he catches no fish at Mill Creek.
Thus, for DintySteveVandy to qualify, one or both of Rob/Mike has to go fishless at lake that has a healthy population of bass AND where one is allowed to weigh in dinks. Thus if DintySteveVandy find a Santee-style sight bite and catch a 50 lb string on tournament day, and Rob and Mike each bring a 5 inch bass to the scale, Rob and Mike go to college smashmouth.
It's expensive to travel to these tournaments, even with the kind help of SORF. I'm not sure I'm willing to wager what it will cost me for a weekend at Mill Creek that Rob and Mike can't catch one 5 inch bass at a good lake. It seems like a fool's bet to me. What do you guys think about this? We could all just vote Mike and Rob to go and save everyone money and a weekend.
