Had the opportunity to get out to Kaufman Lake in Champaign for a few hours yesterday right during the strong pre-frontal conditions and the bass were going CRAZY! I started throwing a spinnerbait parallel to shore and my first fish was a solid 3 pounder that hit about 2 feet from me! I ended up with 17 fish in about 2.5-3 hours which is the best I have ever done out there. I had 3 in the 2 pound class and even caught a few nice spotted bass. One gentleman in his car watched me catch 3 bass from the same spot (2 were on back to back casts) and one was a nice 2 pounder that bit right at shore...I basically just swung him up after he inhaled my bait! So I just had to share this tale of joy, especially after my recent struggles with fishing in the CU area (steve knows what I am talking about).
Anyone that wants to go out fishing let me know...I usually go every chance possible and I'm only 5 min. from Crystal Lake.

Hey Rob, This is Tim -- I'm the guy from Crystal Lake the other day. You gona head out again any time this weekend? I fished this residential lake earlier today off of Windsor (West of Neil), I pulled one 13-14 incher fishin a tube, but I saw a dead ~21-22" 5lb+ bass dried up on shore so I'm guessin' there are some big fish in there. I actually saw a few dead bass on shore, I'm guessing that live-bait fishermen are gut-hookin' the fish and leavin' em to rot, which fricken sucks....
I was thinkin' of heading out to Kaufman or Crystal lake tomorrow afternoon or evening, maybe I'll bump into ya if you're out there.
