Hey everybody,
If you didn't make it to the meeting, my name is Justin and I am the club secretary, I take notes at all the meetings and post them on here for anyone who missed the meeting or is trying to remember something we discussed.
General Club Information:
We fish local waters around Champaign Urbana, both competitively and just for fun, but also fish in a number of different tournaments across the Midwest, including a Big 10 championship tournament every fall. If your ever looking for someone to fish with on a weekday or weekend you can post on the general message board and you will almost always find someone with free time that is interested. If your intersted in joining the club it is a $30 membership fee which allows you use of our club boats and to take advantage of discounts offered by sponsors.
Tournaments:
The Big 10 Classic has been going on since 1996 and takes place this year October 2nd and 3rd on Lake St Clarie in Michigan. There are a couple spots open on the team that all paid new members and it goes to the members with the highest point values.
FLW Tournaments: These are tournaments that take place across the Midwest that allow you to fish with a pro for a day, and you can also win money and qualify for other regional and national tournaments through this circuit.
Paper Tournaments: These are tournaments we hold within our club to help earn points that are used to determine who fishes in some tournaments such as the Big 10. In order to have a paper tournament you need to have at least 3 club members and have posted on the board 24 hours in advance so other people can join in, and you get 15 points automatically for participating and then any fish you catch you need to record the length and weight of and we have a point conversion sheet we use to determine what they are worth.
Boats:
The club has two boats in its possession, an 1980 Ranger fish and Ski and a wuachita which is a two person john boat with a 9.9 motor on it. There are also other members who have boats that are used sometimes, and we use these boats for both fun fishing and some tournaments.
Sponsors:
As a club we have a number of different companies that sponsor us and give us discounts that are available to paid club members. Some of our sponsors include Columbia, Tacklewarehouse.com, Pure Fishing, Falcon rods and Viscous fishing lines. If you are a paid member and are interested in making an order you should post on the general board and one of the executive members will walk you through it and odds are you might find someone else making an order and you can combine orders and save some money on shipping.
For anyone looking to make a tacklewarehouse.com order, there are a couple executive members who will be making orders in the next few weeks. If you look on the general board Carlos is in the process of making one, I will be making one in a week or two so if you want anything from there you should post on the board and we will make a couple of big orders.
If you have any questions feel free to post on here or the general board and hope to see you soon!
