Hey guys,
As some of you know professor Kessler who donated our club boats years ago also donated a lot of other old gear that he didn't use anymore and it has been passed along from club member to club member over the last few years and just ended up in my hands from Marshall. There are literally about 10 tackle boxes full of old lures and about 10. Banker boxes full of gear as well. I looked through it a little bit some of it is not worth keeping like 30 year old line some old stuff that might be worth a little money such as some old reels and rods, some stuff that might be good for donations and some stuff that might interest some of you guys.
It is my plan over the next few weeks to go through all these boxes throw out what isn't worth keeping, and keep the stuff that is and either try to sell it and raise some funds for the club or keep it for raffles.
If anybody objects to any of this for whatever reason let me know, this is something that is really overdue and if it isn't done its just gonna keep getting passed along. Also if anybody is interested to see this stuff or feels like helping me with this let me know and we can work something out. There's a lot of stuff here guys if your don't believe me ask kyle or brock they helped me move it all lol

Whatever you do don't throw away any hard-bodied lures.

All right guys.
I was in Champaign this weekend and while i was there i went through all of this stuff finally. There was a lot to be weeded through some of it went right in the garbage because it just wasn't worth keeping like some old plastics (my guess is about 30 years old) to some real old line and other random stuff like that. I took everything else we had and reorganized it grouping things together and have it at the point now where we can all weed through it for club raffles and for just things members would want in general and some things that might be worth a little money.
I brought back with me about 20 old reels and around 20 or so old rods that I am going to look into and see if they are worth any money and if not I might look to donate them or just otherwise get rid of them. All of this stuff is probably 80s vintage so really nothing anyone would be interested in I think given technology now a days.
I also have some real old electronics, a paper fed lowrance depth finder, an old temperature gauge with a weight for getting down deep, a light gauge for deeper water and an old gps unit that I am going to check into value for and find something to do with. Again its all to the point where its obsolete so if i cant sell it i'm going to look to get rid of it.
We also have a LOT of old crankbaits and spinnerbaits which I am almost positive might be worth some money, I got a card from a guy who collects all these old types of lures at the Outdoors show in Rosemont me and Carlos went to in January so I am going to start there and keep checking around, ebay and craigslist as well and see where I can get some value there.
Finally there is a TON of fly fishing stuff from rods to flies to line to all that is needed to make up new ones. If anybody fly fishes you would definitely be interested in a lot of this stuff.
My goal here is just try to bring some money into the club by getting rid of this stuff. It has been sitting around for years being passed from member to member and there is some money sitting there which would really help the club right now and plus since everything I am trying to get rid of is obsolete it has no real use to the club so we are just going to keep passing it around anyway so we might as well do something with it.
I am going to start researching values and places that would be interested in this stuff this week, if anyone can help that would be great just let me know and hopefully I'll have a direction when we go back to school

I know absolutely nothing about fly fishing and the gear but i'll give you as much as I can find:
Fly Rods: 1 Fenwick HMG 8 ft #6 line 3 oz with a lightweight reel made by Hardy Bros ltd England 1 "Flap Pole" made by Kodiak 8 ft with a heddon 300 reel on it
As far as crankbaits there are quite a few rebels, devils horse, heddon, south bend, strike king burke, etc
