Hey guys,
We had our April general meeting last night, for those of you who missed it here is what we talked about.
First off, a huge thank you goes out to Zach Zuckerman for taking the time out of his night to come talk to us about the affects of angling on spawning bass. It was a very interesting presentation and everyone walked away with a lot of knowledge.
High School Open
Our high school open was a big success, with 50 boats from 23 schools participating. We have had a ton of positive feedback from the event, everyone who was a part of it had a great time and definitely want to participate again next year.
Illinois State Championship
We had three boats in the Illinois State championship this past weekend out on Lake Springfield. Things did not go great, we had a couple of boat issues, and other general issues regarding the organization of the tournament but everyone had a good time overall.
Treasurer update
Since the last meeting, the club has paid boat insurance, for both trailer registrations and will be purchasing tournament insurance for this weekend. We also found out that were not awarded SORF funding for the tournaments this summer.
Sponsors
Columbia: The spring gear for the top 10 guys are in so if you haven't picked it up yet talk to Matt.
On another note, we recently found out that Columbia is cancelling their Collegiate sponsorship program that this gear was donated as a part of after this year. This decision was not based off of our clubs performance but it was a decision made across the board. We are still trying to get more information but it appears that we will still be able to take advantage of the pro purchase agreement. When we find out more information we will post it.
Lews: We are continuing to work with Lews to become our new Reel sponsor. Cody is working with them on the finer details of the agreement and we will announce that soon.
Prairie Outfitters: The owner of Prarie Outfitters in Charleston has reached out to the club as potential sponsors. They carry a lot of our sponsors products as well as things you cannot find at Tacklewarehouse. Cody and Matt are continuing to work on this and we will post more information when it is known.
Senko order: For anybody who ordered senkos through our contact that from the Tinley Park Fishing Show they will be in sometime next week. Everyone who ordered will owe the club money, the bags came out to $5.
Fundraising Tournament
Our fundraising tournament out on Lake Shelbyville is this weekend. This is a great opportunity to get out with the club, we will run the take off and weigh in, but during the in between times we will be fishing, hanging out on shore, working on the club boats, etc so if you want to get out on the water before finals ramp up you should definitely come out!
Anybody who is going, I have created a thread on the general board for those without a car to hook up with someone driving down there. If you want to go find a driver with room for you.
Also anyone who is bringing supplies for the tournament please do not forget.
Midwest Series
Schedule and availability changes of those wanting to fish these tournaments meant that the pairings Matt came up with to not work anymore. he is working on revising them and we will have that posted soon. If you want to fish this series and your schedule has changed you need to update your original post ASAP!
College Bass Regional
We have 4 teams going to this tournament, and we will be working in the next coming weeks on going over maps, and strategies for the tournaments. If you want to be a part of this or know any information about the Mississippi contact an exec member.
Boat US Championship
Cody and Kyle are fishing out of Cody's boat and Matt and Conrad are fishing out of the ranger. We will also be working on strategies for this tournament in the next few weeks so any information you have please let one of the guys fishing it know.
Ranger Maintenance
Matt had the Ranger out on Clinton last week and found some new issues with the boat and confirmed the other issues we thought we had. The passenger seat has rotted out and collapsed inward, the livewells are not working and will need to get fixed, and the boat was overheating. On the positive side it started up right away and ran great except for the overheating. We estimate the repairs at $800, and the question now is if we fix the boat or look to get into something different. The exec board is going to take everything into consideration` in the next couple of weeks and make a decision. we are in the process of working with a Bedford Sales and Service, a Ranger dealer up in Morris IL to see if we can get some support with the boat. We will keep everyone posted.
One last general note, we are going to put a lot of focus on teamwork in all tournaments and outings from this point on. Even if it is not a team tournament, it is important to remember that the club should come above all else, we want the club to finish as best as possible as a whole and not just individually. This means sharing more information, helping each other out, tips and pointers etc. This falls on all of us and it is something we can all improve on.
Thats it for the meeting this month, as usual any questions feel free to post up on here or contact me!
