Ryan J, Tiffany and I went musky fishing at "the spot" on Saturday, Dec 16th and had a banner day. Ryan caught a nice 40 incher early before we got there on a saltwater Rapala bait. I caught 5 muskies, one on a Norman Deep Little N and four on a 4 inch twistertail...they were keyed in on little bait and were coughing up baby shad when you pulled them in. Tiff caught 3 on 8 lb line with a steel leader! She too was using the twistertails. I went back with Tiff and my dad on Monday. Action was slow but I caught 2 fish. This one was 35# or so on a swimbait: The second, caught on a huge twistertail stroked off the bottom aggressively, was an absolute monster that we estimated to be around 45 inches and fat as heck...this fish weighed close to 30 lbs..it was so thick I had trouble holding its belly to get the picture!!!: It's unbelievable how engorged the fish have been the last week at the spot. They are putting the big feedbag on. Hope all of you are having as much luck! -Dinty

Great lookin fish, Dinty!! I like how creative you got with the rigs. That's what separates the men from the boys - being able to tweak techniques to get the fish to bite instead of just chucking and not changing something when the fish are "off."
I wonder what that scar is on the fish on the bottom? Almost looks like a lamprey mark, it's perfectly round. Could be a healing snag wound. Most likely the latter...

Steve's fish truly is a remarkable specimen. I think it's very interesting looking at those pics. You can see two of the three color variations: spotted (Mui's) and barred/spotted (Dinty's). I also like the different shades of pigment - silver in Dinty's first pic, gold in the second, and white-ish in Steve's. I'm attaching a third pic that shows the other color/strain variation - clear. This one's color is also quite exquisite. Beautiful golden girl!!
